The ideal candidate is responsible for maintaining the design and integrity of both customer-facing and internal systems as well as providing technical assistance to team members with system and network requests. This position requires heavy hands-on troubleshooting and restoration of network services. Enterprise network troubleshooting experience is a requirement. Troubleshooting experience MUST be recent and the worker needs to be the one actually doing the troubleshooting. Candidate must have knowledgeable on the Cisco Network firewall switches routers with desired working knowledge of Cisco’s Next Generation Network.
Candidate must be local to Columbia, SC.
Responsibilities
- Administers infrastructure including hardware, software, and various configurations.
- Provides administration and maintenance of user devices and communications links to assure operational availability.
- Deploys and administers routing protocols and network devices (switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers).
- Administers and tests networking hardware and software.
- Performs remedial maintenance of network devices including the restoration of hardware and software.
- Works with end users and vendors to resolve network hardware/software issues.
- Upgrades and configures network devices from multiple vendors.
- Confers with network users about how to solve problems affecting network performance. Validates and adjusts network configuration when needed to resolve issues.
- Generates network utilization/trending/error reports as requested.
- Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations as needed.
- Creates and maintains process and procedure documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job related degree. Required Degree Equivalency: 2 years of network or other job related experience.
